CYTOPATHOLOGIC DIAGNOSIS: Pleural Fluid, Left; Cytology AND Cellblock- POSITIVE FOR MALIGNANT CELLS Cytomorphologically consistent with NON SMALL CELL CARCINOMA PATHOLOGIST Gross AND Microscopic Description: The specimen consists of about 650 ml of dark red brown turbid fluid with coagulum AND blood clots. The entire specimen is taken for study - 3 smears; 1 block The smears AND the cellblock sections disclose many irregular aggregates of neoplastic cells with scanty to moderate AND vacuolated cytoplasm and enlarged pleomorphic AND hyperchromatic nuclei. Attempts at glandular formation are seen. The background shows fibrinoid material AND chronic inflammatory cells dominated by histiocytes and reactive mesothelial cells. Thank you for the referral. NON SMALL CELL CARCINOMA, Metastatic Gross AND Microscopic Description: The specimen consists of few pieces of light brown irregular soft tissues measuring 1.3 x 1.1 x 0.3 cm. in aggregate dimension. The entire specimen is taken for study -1 block Microsections disclose fragments of skeletal muscular tissues AND fibrocollagenous tissues with scattered clusters of neoplastic cells exhibiting nuclear pleomorphism AND hyperchromasia. Some cells show moderate clear cytoplasm, while other cells show glandular formation. These neoplastic cells are noted admixed with histiocytes AND reactive mesothelial cells. COMMENT: Cytomorphologically consistent with Adenocarcinoma. Suggest clinical correlation.
