Benadryl AND ear infection

Dear Dr. Mark, My child is 1 year old. Has been suffering from ears infections AND fluids build up for the last 3.5 month. He was treated with Amoxicillin, Omnicef, Augmentin, Cefzil AND now Zithromax. We have heard that in some cases Benadryl helps “fighting” the fluids AND can solve the problem. I realize that drying the fluid in this way can result with even more difficult to drainage it. But we thought we could first wait until the infection is gone AND then apply Benadryl on a clear fluid. I will be thankful for your advice/opinion. I can read Hebrew Shana Tova, Ziv

שלום רב נראה לי שאם הדלקות בלתי פוסקות והילד קיבל כבר 5 סוגים שונים של אנטיביוטיקה במהלך של 3.5 חודשים, יש אינדיקציה ברורה להכנסת צינוריות אוורור. שום תרופה לא מייבשת את הנוזלים שקיימים באוזן תיכונה, יש תרופות שיכולות לייבש נזלת כלומר למנוע הווצרות של נזלת נוספת כשזו הבעיה, אך לא ציינת בעיה של נזלת או נשימה אלא רק דלקות אוזניים ! בהצלחה ושנה טובה ד"ר טלי מרק
