Professionals urge Congress: Stop fluoridation Thursday, August 09, 2007 NEW YORK — Over 600 medical, dental AND other professionals asked Congress to put an end to water fluoridation until hearings are conducted, citing new scientific evidence that raises questions about the value of fluoridated public water, an August 9 PR Newsire press release reported. The professionals released a statement, claiming fluoride is ineffective AND can cause serious health risks. The statement begins, “We, the undersigned professionals, come from a variety of disciplines but all have an abiding interest in ensuring that government public health AND environmental policies be determined honestly, with full attention paid to the latest scientific research AND to ethical principles.” Professionals include a Nobel Prize winner, members of the 2006 National Research Council (NRC), officers in the union representing professionals at the US Environmental Protection Agency AND the president of the International Society of Doctors for the Environment. 2000 Nobel Prize winner Dr. Arvid Carlsson said in the press release, “Fluoridation is against all principles of modern pharmacology.
