hello malie Angiomas are localized vascular lesions result from hyperplasia of blood or lymph vessels. Most are congenital and grow with the body's growth. Hemangiomas are angiomas that contain blood. Usually they are in the skin or superficial tissues, but they can appear anywhere - in the liver, rerely in the CNS or in bones, in the epithelium of the gastrointestinal tract etc. Most of the hemangiomas do not cause any problem and do not need any treatment. When their are very big or located at "strategic" location, they may cause problems like local pressure, bleeding, clotting, or act as space occupying lesion. There are several rare syndromes of severe hemangiomatous disease which are defined by such symptoms. Treatment in the cases who need it depends on the size, location and type of problem.
