I am a singer and have been using my voice exccessivly in the past year and a half in a singing group. For the past month I've had severe pain in my throat. Nothing like an ordinary sore throat. It hurts when I swallow and when I talk or sing. I am also hoarse lately. My family doctor said he doesn't see anything. Should I see a specialist? What could it be please respond in english, thank you.

Hi Lorenn ! Well' f I understand correctly ' you've been having broblem with your voice and with your throat, you have visited a general practitioner and he has not find anything wrong. It seems that there is a problem in your larynx, it might be an unflammatory one or a problem or some kind of vocal abuse. No doubt you should have aN ENT chek-up which will include your larynx and yoyr vocal cords. In case of an inflammatory disease, one will have to determine wether it is of vira origin for example a gastro-esophageal reflux problem, and in case of a vocal abuse - the ENT doctor should rule-out avocal cord lesion. In summary : a comprehensive ENT examination is highly recommended, preferably with propper laryngeal examination equipment. good luck
