Kidney stones

My son was diagnosed with two kidney stones recently(very small which will apparently pass) He suffers from Colitis. Is there any connection? What can he do to help him pass the stones and is there any specific diet he can follow to prevent them reocurring. Many Thanks!

There is a connection, the treatment is increasing fluid intake and supplement of citrate
