problem in miniscus, mcl ?

I am 42 but very active in sport until 1 year ago. Over past year I 've had 3 knee incidents with my right knee. The last being 1 month ago. Since then I 've had MRI, bone scan. The MRI shows ripped miniskus and inflammation around MCL. I don't have the bone scan results yet. I understand I can have miniscus surgery. But is there an underlying problem with ligaments ? How can I know it I have a ligament problem ? Is MRI andbone scan sufficient. Who should perform the surgery if needed ?
