Bowel blockage

Hello. I suffered lower abdominal AND testicular pain for almost 2 month. I had soft feces AND felt as if I never manage to get it all out. When it became worse I went to the doctor who sent me to CT. Although the pain occurred mainly when I strained, he said it’s not hernia. The CT showed I had a bowel blockage AND he said it was very large AND hard AND would take time to dissolve. I’ve been taking milk of magnesia every evening, a spoon full of mineral oil twice a day AND Metamucil in the morning. He said I should continue for 4-6 months. I use the bathroom now at least twice a day, the pain is gone, but isn’t 4-6 months too extensive? On the mineral oil it says not to continue over 2 weeks?! Please advise. Thanks.
