Dear Micheal, Let me start by thanking you for your service in the Navy. I am sorry you had to dive in the Kishon River, which I am sure is a source of great anxiety, given recent reports of higher cancer rates among those who entered the river. Generally, 5 years after Melanoma in Situ, you can sleep easier. If you have no symptoms or signs then the MRI and CT may not be necessary. More information is required, your age, the location, the size and depth and score of the melanoma, etc. You should be followed every year by a dermatologist, and you should also be taught to self check your skin, and photograph any potential irregular skin lesions.. Good Luck to you, May you have a long and healthy life, Dr LeeOna L. Fisher Feld ,
