Modal / Sulpiride --easier to read

I am writing in English since I am abroad right now, but I am very concerned. I am taking Cipramil for the past year now for depression, but it didn't really had much of effect on me. If things go well I feel good and if they don't I tend to get very much depressed. My mother sent me from my psychiatrist in Israel pills that are called Modal ( mg50 Sulpiride). I took five of them and they had a wonderful effect on me. I felt much better quiet immediately. The problem is that I felt a bit itchy, and I looked up in the internet on this medicine. It seems that it is given in cases of schizophrenia and that it has severe side effects, such as loss of scontrol of muscle movements!!!! (Dysxinesia?) So I am very worried now, and I am not sure whether I should continue to take this pill. Please let me know your opinion on that. And sorry that this is in English, Dana

לדנה שלום, אין בעיה שכתבת באנגלית וגם אפשר להרגע. ההיסטוריה של מודל מעניינת. מודל היא תרופה צרפתית כאשר חיפשו תרופה שלא תגרום לבעיות בשרירים ותופעות הלוואי שאת פוחדת מהן, ואכן המודל כמעט ואינה גורמת לתופעות הללו אבל התברר שהשפעתה בסכיזופרניה מועטה והיא בהחלט אינה מומלצת כיום לטיפול בסכיזופרניה וישנם ספרים שעדיין כותבים על ההיסטוריה של התרופה. מודל היא תרופה עדינה עם מינימום של תופעות לוואי, עוזרת גם בהרגעה ומצאו שהיא מרגיעה גם את הקיבה כאשר המתח משפיע על הקיבה (צרבת, אולכוס). אני בטוח שהתחלת במינונים נמוכים של 100-150 מג' (כך זה בדרך כלל), ובמינונים אלו אין סיבה לדאגה. שיהיה רק טוב דר' גיורא הידש
