Dear Doctor My wife when she is in extreme emotional stress which involves a lot of crying sometimes loses her conscious . The fainting may last from half an hour to 3 hours. Sometimes she also gets extreme pain in her stomach which a local doctor related to her high level of stress which creates gastric problems. The last time she fainted there was no gastric pain. .we had an argument she became extremely upset and fainted for 3 hours. We are at the moment in Indonesia and doctors here don't do much to diagnose it so I am very worried. The first time it happened to her was 6 years ago while she was stressed studying for exams in the university. The second time she fainted was only 5 years later when she was traumatic due to a breakup in long time relationship, and the last 4 times she fainted happened In the last 6 months while we were arguing. I would really appreciate your advice I can read Hebrew but unfortunately cannot type in Hebrew Kind regards

first of all , the course of these events sounds benign , most commonly due to non dangerous causes . emotional causes are a very common cause . of course you can make a simple evaluation to rule out more life threatening causes : ecg holther ,echocardiogram [ not ecg ] and eeg . after or even without making these exams you may consider adressing the emotional causes. of course all this is very hard to say certainly by internet and it is recommended to conduct the evaluation with a real physician rather than a virtual one.
