Shalom Dr: My hebrew is not so good, so I prefer to write in english. I suffer from hemifacial spasm for 10 years more or less, and I've got to a point that it's very difficult for me to be a "normal" person. It's a very severe spasm. I've being receiving Botox inyections evry year, but as you must know, they don't work so well as in the beginning of the treatment. Have you heard of any operation that can help to my problem?

Hello Joan Surgical treatment may be offered to patients with hemifacial spasm who are resistent to medical therapy. The operation is called: vascular decompression. Its purpose is to eleviate compression over the nerve by a nearby blood vessel. Results are said to be good, though recurrence of spasm has been reported in some patients. All the best Dr. Ron Dabby
