I was diagnosed with interductal adenocarcinoma of the left breast with metastases. I had bone, liver and brain scans. There were brain lesions and my liver was enlarged. The surgeon told my husband not to wait until Christmas to get the family together, as that would be too late, even if I had chemotherapy. He told me I had had this for a long time, but still wanted me to have radiation. My internist wanted me to have chemotherapy. I refused both radiation and chemo because I had already made up my mind that if I had cancer, I was going to go the Laetrile metabolic route. I had been fortunate to know a lady whose cancer had spread over her whole body. She could not get out of her wheelchair. She had had all the chemotherapy and radiation they could give her, so she said the doctors sent her home to die and told her husband that she had only two or three months to live. This lady started on the Laetrile program, and soon she was out of the wheelchair, became room mother for two of her four children, chauffeured another one to school and picked her up every day. So, I had decided years before that if I ever found out I had cancer, that the metabolic way was the way I was going to go. Since the diet is an important part of the program, I had started myself on the diet. At that time there was a clinic in the San Francisco Bay Area where I could receive my treatment. I am now 77 years old, feeling very good, and I am happy to say that I have had no evidence of recurrence of cancer for 23 years. At the time of my operation, there were two other women in the same hospital room as I was, both with breast cancer, both having the same surgeons. One of the patients was the same age as I was, and the other was about 10 years younger. I was given the worst prognosis, but I am the only one still alive after these many years. The youngest of the three of us died after about four years, and the one my age lived for about eight years. Also, I felt good the whole time (better than I had for years), while both of them were miserable from their chemotherapy.
