hi my daughter is 6 months old, only breastfeeds. i wanted to know if she can also drink water , in case i leave the house . i want my husband to give her water. is that ok? since i am not interested in the formulas AND also not in pumping my milk. is water ok to give at this age? of course, when i'll be back home - she will breastfeed, as usual. also - another small question - - - we were now on holidays AND i noticed upon our return that when she breastfeeds now here in israel - she always has drops of milk on her mouth after eating, but when we were abroad - there were no drops of milk on her after feeding. does that mean that here she eats better, OR that, perhaps - she didnt eat well while we were away, AND that maybe she was hungry? are you aware of this phenomina? thanks AND have a good day Rachel

hi Rachel your husband can give water if you want - preferably in a cup OR spoon because at this age, the baby doesn't really need a bottle. AND if she has managed til now without a bottle, then why cause her to become bottle dependent? its great if a baby can go straight from breast to table, cup etc....just easier when you have one less thing to wean them from. regarding drops of milk, it could be that you are more relaxed here , if this is your permanent home. so therefore you may be producing different amounts of milk. this doesn't mean she didn't get enough when abroad - could be that you just make more here. if she was fine, as far as mood AND health was concerned, AND she had lots of wet diapers, then I am sure she received enough. also if she has a continual weigth gain then that also shows she is just fine. she does not have to have the usual 200 grams per week increase, but a constant even smaller increase shows she is getting enough. hope this helps AND shana tova ellen
