results of chest ct scan

Non-contrast AND IV contrast enhanced axial CT images of the chest shows the following findings: There is an ovoid mildly homogeneouslyenhancing, hypodense pulmonary mass with irregular borders in the apical segment of the left lobe . It measures 2.4x3.4x2.3 cm Two pulmonary modules measuring 0.4cm in the posterior segment of the left upper lobe AND paramediastinal aspect of the anterior segment left upper lobe are likewise noted. No calcification is seen. There is ground glass haziness in the left upper lobe. Moderate to massive amount of pleural fluid collection is seen in the left hemithorax with associated compressive atelectasis of the lingula AND left lower lobe . The intrathoratic trachea AND mainstem bronchi show no intraluminal defect OR extrinsic compression.The heart is normal in size AND configuration.Great vessels are unremarkable.Thre are no enlarged mediastinal hilar nor axilliary lymph nodes. The visualized osseous are structures unremarkable. IMPRESSION: Pulmonary mass AND nodules, left upper lobe.Primary consideration is neoplastic process. Tissue correlation is suggested. Moderate to massive amount pleural effusion, left Obstructive pneumonia, left upper lobe considered Negative for lymphadenophathy . RADIOLOGIC REPORT ther is homogenous opacification of the left mid to lower hemithorax with an ascending lateral component. there is some fluid leveling in the dependent portion of the left hemithorax in the decubitus view. a focal convexity better seen in the left decubitus view is also noted in the left mid lung field. no significant mediastinal midline shift noted. the left diaphragm, left sulcus AND left cardiac borders are obscured precluding adequate assessment of these structures. clacific densities line the aortic knob the trachea is midline with due allowance obliquity. the right costopherenic sulcus AND right hemidiaphragm are intact. spurs are noted in the thoracolumbar vertebral endplates. the rest of the osseous structures AND soft tissues are unremarkable. IMPRESSION: 1. Pleural effusion, left probably with some atelectatic component. 2. Consider mass lesion, left mid lung field 3. Atherosclerotic aorta 4. Degenerative osseous changes 5.
