Milk, dairy products AND cancer risk -Italy. CONCLUSIONS: There was a modest direct association between milk AND dairy products AND prostate cancer, AND a moderate inverse one for colorectal cancer. However, our findings indicate that milk AND dairy products are not strong risk indicators for any of the cancers considered. ---------------------------------------------------- 1: Br J Nutr. 2006 Mar;95(3):539-45. Dairy products, calcium AND phosphorus intake, AND the risk of prostate cancer: results of the French prospective SU.VI.MAX (Supplementation en Vitamines et Mineraux Antioxydants) study. Although dairy products have been found to be associated with an elevated risk of prostate cancer, studies investigating the potential effect of Ca are limited, AND findings are inconsistent. Our data support the hypothesis that dairy products have a harmful effect with respect to the risk of prostate cancer, largely related to Ca content. ------------------------------------------------------------- Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev. 2006 Feb;15(2):364-72. Dairy products AND ovarian cancer: a pooled analysis of 12 cohort studies. BACKGROUND: Dairy foods AND their constituents (lactose AND calcium) have been hypothesized to promote ovarian carcinogenesis. Although case-control studies have reported conflicting results for dairy foods AND lactose, several cohort studies have shown positive associations between skim milk, lactose, AND ovarian cancer. METHODS: A pooled analysis of the primary data from 12 prospective cohort studies was conducted. The study population consisted of 553,217 women among whom 2,132 epithelial ovarian cases were identified. Study-specific relative risks AND 95% confidence intervals were calculated by Cox proportional hazards models AND then pooled by a random-effects model. RESULTS: No statistically significant associations were observed between intakes of milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, AND dietary AND total calcium intake AND risk of ovarian cancer. -------------------------------------------------------- Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers Prev. 2006 Feb;15(2):203-10. A prospective study of calcium intake AND incident AND fatal prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common incident cancer AND the second leading cause of cancer mortality in U.S. males. Higher milk intake has been relatively consistently associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer, especially advanced prostate cancer. Some data suggest that high intake of calcium might account for this association, but this relationship remains controversial. We hypothesized that high calcium intake, possibly by lowering 1,25(OH)2 vitamin D levels, is associated with poorer differentiation in prostate cancer AND thereby with fatal prostate cancer. We examined calcium intake in relation to prostate cancer risk using data from the Health Professionals Follow-up Study, a prospective cohort study of 47,750 male health professionals with no history of cancer other than nonmelanoma skin cancer at baseline. Our findings suggest that calcium intakes exceeding 1,500 mg/d may be associated with a decrease in differentiation in prostate cancer AND ultimately with a higher risk of advanced AND fatal prostate cancer but not with well-differentiated, organ-confined cancers. ---------------------------------------------------------------- 1: J Am Coll Nutr. 2005 Dec;24(6 Suppl):556S-68S. Dairy product consumption AND the risk of breast cancer. It has been suggested in some reports that dairy product consumption may increase the risk of breast cancer. This review gives a brief overview of the etiology of breast cancer AND in particular the roles of fat, bovine growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor-1 AND estrogens. Evidence from more than 40 case-control studies AND 12 cohort studies does not support an association between dairy product consumption AND the risk of breast cancer. ----------------------------------------------------------- 1: Nutr Cancer. 2005;53(1):65-72. Milk consumption in relation to incidence of prostate, breast, colon, AND rectal cancers: is there an independent effect? The present study does not support an overall substantial effect of milk consumption on the risk of prostate, breast, colon, AND rectal cancers at the population level. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Br J Cancer. 2006 Jan 16;94(1):165-70. Dairy consumption AND ovarian cancer risk in the Netherlands Cohort Study on Diet AND Cancer. Ovary cancer risk in relation to consumption of dairy products was investigated using a self-administered questionnaire on dietary habits AND other risk factors for cancer, which was completed in 1986 by 62 573 postmenopausal women participating in the Netherlands Cohort Study. Follow-up for cancer was implemented by annual record linkage with the Netherlands Cancer Registry AND a nationwide pathology registry. After 11.3 years of follow-up, data of 252 incident epithelial ovarian cancer cases AND 2216 subcohort members were available for analysis. Our results do not support an association between consumption of dairy products OR lactose intake AND ovarian cancer.
זה עדיין לא אומר שהמידע לא קיים - צירפתי ספר של ד"ר אבני ושם מצוטטים מחקרים שמראים קשר בין חלב וסרטן. לא רק ערמונית.
