anxiety

Dear Dr/Pharmacist, I am suffering from severe anxiety , sadness AND extreme agitation at present due to a family crisis. I will be attending counselling soon but would like to take a tablet that won't be addictive. I have taken Lorivan before on the odd occasion but am aware that it can become addictive. Is there anything else you can recommend I really need something to keep myself calm as I have the tendency to break down uncontrollably. Please advise. Thanks
