Hello, I would like if possible your expert opinion regarding my ankle operation I did in September 2010 I suffered for many years with ankle pain and was eventually diagnosed with having osteoarthritis . I am 38 years old but the Dr was very convinced by the CT and case history which mentioned also OCD of the ankle. He performed Right ankle subtalar arthrodesis on 14/09/2010. I was in a cast for 3 months and have been without for 3 months. My last x-ray done in mid January showed an incomplete fusion and I need to go another x-ray in April. My question is that I was told that I would be fine and running after 6 months pain free and that the down side of that operation is the 3 months in a cast. I am barely able to walk at the moment and I am still limping seriously with pain every step I take, I have been doing physiotherapy once a week for a month or so. I would like to know based on your experience if it is acceptable that fusion could take longer than 6 months, and does that mean I could expect complete fusion in a few months if it has not yet occurred. I would really appreciate your input as I am very concerned at the moment and feel that the opinion I was given or recovery time frame might have been slightly over zealous Waiting anxiously for your response Thank you in advance Respectfully Darren Blum Optometrist B.Sc.
