My name is Horesh David And I am type 1 diabetic new patient. my question is why Medicine companies that produce Insulin Do not mix with the Insulin solution the same amount of C-peptide. Or at list do clinical trial about the subject. I believe that every gene that survive through evolutionary processes that took millions of years is necessary for One or more than one Important function of the Human buddy
Dear David, C-peptide isn't a subtitute of insulin and has noting to do with insulin functioning, except the fact that it is an evident to the existance of insulin in one to one ratio as part of the pro-insulin molecule chain. So there is no benifit to mix c-peptide wih the insulin. Meir
there is a new review on this issue that claimed that there is a connection . read at www.ajpendo.org waiting for ur comment thanks David
Hi David, There is no point in mixing C-peptide with insulin preparations, as c-peptide has no insulin-like activity. On the contrary - the pharmaceutical companies is doing their best to eliminate c-pepride residues and clean theifr preparations. C-peptide is the non-active part of the proinsulin molecule. It is seperated from the insulin in the beta cells just before release, and thats why it is named "Connective peptide=C-peptide". Presence of c-peptide remanents in the insulin vials or cartridges for injection will only cause antibodies productions to insulin/c-peptide' and lipodistrophy at the sites of injections.
