going back to work AND pumping
דיון מתוך פורום הנקה
Shalom, I breastfeed my 2 month old child. I have been concerned if he gets enough milk, but he has enough wet dippers, he pooped (tso-a) few times a day AND he gained enough weight to put him on the average (he started a bit lower). He was last evaluated 3 weeks ago. Since I returned to work (two weeks ago), He poops less often, once in 2-3 days. Also, except for two times that I could pump 150 ml in about 25 minutes (at work after 4 h), it takes much longer AND yields much less. I pump once at work (5 days a week) AND once in late evening, at night OR morning (or 2-3 times if it is not enough, AND usually it is not enough) How would I know if 1) he is getting enough when I directly breastfeed him? 2) I am not drying? 3) How much should he eat? 4) How can I combine breastfeeding AND pumping. When I breast-feed I dont have enough to pump. 5) Is pooping once in 2-3 days enough? 6) If I take vitamins, does he get them too. He takes his own, but he dislikes it, AND spit it out. Thanks you. ziv
Hi Ziv, he is getting enough if he is happy AND has lots of wet diapers AND doesn't complain. 2. It is logical that as soon as you stop bfg every two hours, that you produce less milk than before. 3. Each baby eats according to his needs. from the breast we don't have to know an amount because the baby will usually pace himself . if you mean in the bottle, it is not a true evaluation because babies eat twice as much as they need cause they eat it at a faster rate with no pauses. 4. You can always increase the amount of pumping. when you are with the baby you can feed him from one side only for a few feeds, AND then pump the other side. work on it gradually. you will alwasy have enough. 5. If there are no signs of illness OR discomfort it is very common for a totally bf baby to poo once every few days. even up to 10 days!! 6. a totally breastfed baby should not require supplemental vitamins. good luck ellen
