Breastfeeding after 1 year old

I'm still breastfeeding my 1 year old baby which weights only 8 kilos. My doctor wanted my to stop nursing her ever since 9 months. He claims that once i'll stop the nursing, the baby will gain weight. i'm however enjoying very much the nursing time before bedtime (is the only time that i nurse). what do you think is it true that my baby doesn't gain much weight because i'm still nursing?

If your baby is only nursing once a day, then it certainly has nothing to do with your baby's weight gain or lack of. It depends on what the baby is eating all day long. Hi Ellen, Thanks for your answer. This is what i thought. My baby's development is fine and she follows the milestones. She really doesn't like to eat or to drink. Every bite is a huge success! She was on the 25% curve untill 6 months and then she dropped to the 3% curve and ever since she follows this curve. She was born 3 kgs and she was born on the 38 weeks. Thanks!
