severe pains

Dear Doctor, My wife is suffering severe pains in her stomach AND back, so bad that she has troubles getting out of bed. We are not sure whether she is pregnant OR not, but the date of her period should be coming in the next few days [she got her last period on September 29]. What medicine can she take to relieve her pain assuming she is pregnant, that won’t harm the unborn baby? Thank you AND have a nice week
