FLuid in the ears - the correct format

Hi, I have 5 Y/O daughter. After checking we just found that she does not hear OK. She has fluid in both ears, even after trying giving her Zinnat for 2 weeks, we checked her yeaterday and we found the she hears in Level 20-25. Our doctor, recommended to wait another month and to check what happens to the fluid in the ear during this period, if it will be increased, decreased or remain the same. If the situation will be the same in one month, the he told us that he will need to put “ventilation tubes” in both ears, so the girl could hear properly. The doctor told us the ventilation tubes (most of them) will go off by themselves in a year or so… I have some questions: 1. What will happen after one year, when the ventilation tubes will be out again? And, isn’t it solving the symptom and not the real problem – fluid in the ears? 2. This kind of operation takes very short time – as the doctor said – and actually bears very little risk. What could be the complications in this kind of operations? 3. When our daughter was younger (2-3Y/O), she suffered a lot from ear infections. It arrived to the point, that the doctor (our pediatrician) recommended a pre-treatment for the fluid problem: Low level of antibiotics for long period. He mentioned also that the fluid issue would be solved when the girl will be older. Well, now she is older and the problem continues…What are the options that we have apart from the operation? 4. What will happen if after one year, without the tubes in the ears, the problem will continue? What will we do than? Can’t we do it now Thanks A LOT for your help, Raphael
