Mucus

Hello, I started suffering from allergies 3 years ago when I moved to Washington, DC AND started taking Allegra on a pretty regular basis. I am allergic to dust AND ragweed. A year ago I moved to LA AND I do not seem to suffer from the old symptoms I had so I haven't taken the medicines for almost a year now. A month ago I moved into a new apartment AND I suddenly statred having large amount of mucus on a daily basis. I also feel that I probably have some mild asthma again. I moved not too far from my old apartment The only change is that I live not too far from an oil well (yes - they have them in neighborhoods) AND for some reason I am worried that I am allergic to something in the apartment since I am having problems only when I am in the apartment. The apartment is very clean so I don't believe that carpet AND dust are the reasons. The only options I can think of are the paint that was used to paint the apartment a month ago OR some of the cleaning materials used to clean the carpet. I would be happy to get some good advice how to figure out the reason for the mucus. I never had so much mucus. Not even when I had my allergies. I live not too far from a main street so smog is a possibility, although it is not so different from the area where I used to live. overally, LA is well-known for high levels of smog. One more thing I forgot to mention - I am also allergic to mold. I believe that mold is a better candidate than the other two that I mentioned. Just read about mold AND it sounds very possible. How do I go about checking whether there is mold in my apartment? Are there any effective medicines?
